Since they'd been going out for nearly a year by the time she dumped him again as a teenager (by far his longest relationship), I don't think Colin should complain. Katherine 19, his most recent girlfriend, is in fact also Katherine 1, who asked him to be her boyfriend when they were children, and then promptly broke up with him not long after. While Colin is fairly actively unpopular in school, he has nonetheless dated (however briefly) and been dumped by eighteen different girls called Katherine. Not that he should be unused to being dumped.

He desperately wants to make some sort of significant contribution to the world, even more so after he's crushed when dumped by his girlfriend on the day of their high school graduation. While able to converse in eleven different languages and capable of memorising the majority of everything he reads (for hours every day), he's not really able to adapt the reading into anything new - like a true genius would be able to.

In their quest to interview a bunch of old people that have/had worked for the tampon string factory that was the lifeline of the town, this rag-tag team of people discovered things about themselves that they wouldnвЂ™t have any place else. This journey leads them to Gutshot, Tennessee where they end up meeting a whole bunch of amazing characters вЂ“ Lindsey Lee Wells and her mom Hollis, LindseyвЂ™s boyfriend Colin (a different one) and their friends. If there is one thing to be said about any of John GreenвЂ™s books, it is this, theyвЂ™re a sucker punch you do not see coming, and if by some miracle you do see it coming, itвЂ™ll knock the air out of you just the same.ДЄlthough Green may have shot to fame with вЂThe Fault in Our StarsвЂ™ it is not actually his first work, it was preceded by вЂLooking for AlaskaвЂ™ and вЂAn Abundance of KatherinesвЂ™.Д¬olin Singleton is a goofy, anti-social, child prodigy who had just graduated from high school and from dating his 19th Katherine.ДЄs a coincidence, and not a rule, from a very young age Colin has only ended up dating Katherines, all of whom had dumped him, leading to him coming up with his famous вЂDumper-Dumpee ThereomвЂ™, where he tried to understand if he could, using personal experience, create an theory that could be used to predict relationships with Katherines.ДЄfter being dumped after almost a year of dating, Colin and his only friend, Hassan decide to take a road trip with no particular destination in mind.
